About CHIMES Society

The CHIMES Society is a unique international partnership which consists of an innovative academic industry collaboration with the objective to establish new stroke treatments.
CHIMES is a Singaporean non-profit society founded by a group of experts in stroke and South-East Asian stroke clinicians interested to implement a research project: the NeuroAiD Efficacy on stroke recovery trial (CHIMES trial).

With the lack of established pharmacological treatment modalities to help stroke patients recover after a stroke, there is strong interest to investiga the efficacy and safety of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) such as NeuroAid in stroke recovery.

The research objective is to evaluate the impact of NeuroAid on stroke recovery when administered within a 72 hour window after onset of stroke.,NeuroAid has shown to be beneficial to stroke patients, as compared to another TCM, at a late stage of stroke treatment (i.e. 2 weeks to 6 months) in previous trials.

CHIMES Society is the recipient from a research grant from the National Medical Research Council in Singapore (NMRC) which supports the implementation of CHIMES trial in Singapore as well as grant from Moleac Pte Ltd to support the trial outside of Singapore; CHIMES Society has sole discretion on the use of this grant.

CHIMES Society continues to seek further donations from industrial partners and individual donors to extend the trial. CHIMES is now actively recruiting patients in Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
