About CHIMES Society
CHIMES Society is one-of-a-kind international partnership that represents an innovative academic industry collaboration with the objective to establish new stroke treatments.
CHIMES is a Singaporean non profit society founded by a group of Key Opinion Leaders in stroke, Southeast Asia regional experts and clinicians interested to implement a research project on NeuroAiDÂ Efficacy on Stroke recovery: the CHInese Medicine NeuroAiD Efficacy on Stroke recovery trial (CHIMES trial) .
With the lack of pharmacological treatment modalities to help stroke patients recover after a stroke , there is strong interest to look at other routes than usual pharmaceutical development. Neuroaid was initially developed as a traditional Chinese medicine to help patients recover after their stroke.
The objective of the research is to evaluate the impact of NeuroAiD on stroke recovery when administered within the 72 hour window upon onset of stroke, onset as NeuroAiD has shown to be beneficial to stroke patient in late stage of stroke treatment (ie. 2 weeks to 6 months) in previous trials.
CHIMES Society is the recipient from a research grant from the National Medical Research Council in Singapore (NMRC) which supports the implementation of CHIMES trial in SIngapore as well as a grant from Moleac Pte Ltd to support trial outside of Singapore. CHIMES Society continues to seek further donations from industrial partners and individual donors to extend the trial.
CHIMES is now actively recruiting patients in Singapore, Philippines and Thailand – and plan to extend soon to Malaysia, Pakistan, South Korea, Sri Lanka.
The trial has received as well a lot of media coverage.
CHIMES trial is now recruiting in several hospitals in Southeast Asia. If you would like to learn more about our research or would like for your medical institution to join our trial, feel free to reach us.
